Although I've recently griped quite a bit about political issues in my journal, I'm not really political. I'm a tech-geek. My knowledge of world culture and history is poor, and I have no stomach for the rhetoric of the American political system. I am still a human being though and the events of the past several years has really bothered me. Anyway, I took a test to see where my political mindset is:
My Political Compass:
Economic Left/Right: -6.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.62
This site has a lot of interesting facts about famous people. You should take the test. Does it jibe with your own mind's eye of your political slant?

New York Times: After Terror, a Secret Rewriting of Military Law
The Times has an article on Guantanamo prison/interrogation center and how laws were re-written and legal boundaries pushed to the extreme. Its a long article and, sadly, it requires a free account to the Times to read it online. Below are a few snippets, with my dumb American comments thrown in for good measure. (The article was too long to capture all the good bits here.. read it yourself.)
