Box rides on iCloud's coattails, offers 50GB of free cloud storage to iOS users

No, your eyes don't deceive you -- Box is offering 50GBs of free storage inside its cloud for iOS users -- just like it did for TouchPad owners back in June. Anyone who downloads the latest version of Box's app for iPad and iPhone will receive their massive lot for data storage after registering a personal account (existing accounts can join in on the fun as well). To make better use of that extra space, Box will also be bumping upload capacity from 25MB to 100MB per file and baking in AirPlay support. Look, Box is obviously skitching on iCloud's tail, but it sure seems like a crazy good deal considering that space is yours "forever." The promotion will last for 50 days, officially starting at 12AM on October 14th -- although, we're already seeing the update on our end. Full details in the source link.

I got mine! I'm a dropbox user, but for 50GB of free storage for life, I'll get my foot in the door - hedge my bets. :)

Wave Goodbye: Google Wave Sunsetting in 2012

2011-11-30 00:00:00 -0500

Like many of Google's projects, Wave was ambitious and bold, but not grounded in reality.  People needed to be weened off "e-mail for everything".  Wave had to be pervasive or it would lack the utility.  (In this regard, Google Plus is *just* eking by..)  So we are stuck with the aged, but tried and "true", e-mail for some time to come.  In some regards, Google Plus is a continuation of Wave - group chats/huddles, discussions via circles, games, etc.

Google Wave Sunsetting in 2012

Dear Wavers,

More than a year ago, we announced that Google Wave would no longer be developed as a separate product. At the time, we committed to maintaining the site at least through to the end of 2010. Today, we are sharing the specific dates for ending this maintenance period and shutting down Wave. As of January 31, 2012, all waves will be read-only, and the Wave service will be turned off on April 30, 2012. You will be able to continue exporting individual waves using the existing PDF export feature until the Google Wave service is turned off. We encourage you to export any important data before April 30, 2012.

If you would like to continue using Wave, there are a number of open source projects, including Apache Wave. There is also an open source project called Walkaround that includes an experimental feature that lets you import all your Waves from Google. This feature will also work until the Wave service is turned off on April 30, 2012.

For more details, please see our help center.

Yours sincerely,

The Wave Team

While most of Google TV will work after you use an application-specific password, the Google TV Gallery app is not compatible with 2-step verification. If you want to use the Gallery app, you will need to turn off 2-step verification. See some examples of application-specific passwords.

OK, the Logitech Revue really needs an update.. The gallery app does not support application-specific passwords - yet another annoying problem with the current version of Google TV. When *is* that update coming to the Revue?

I've been rolling with Lion at home on both my Macbook Pro and Mac Pro. As soon as there is a break at work, my Mac Pro will get the upgrade as well. There are some great Lion resources in this article.

.. but does the installer let me install from scratch? I don't want to upgrade, I want a clean install. I guess I can try it out when I put Lion on my work computer.
