"Know Your Enemy - Rage Against the Machine"

Media_httpimagespartn_zydkf

Yes I know my enemies
They are the teachers who taught me to fight me
Compromise, conformity, assimulation, submission
Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite
All of which are American dreams..

I added a new user icon for Rochester, NY posts. For those who know me, I hale from Rochester. The user icon is the city symbol that I scarfed from http://www.ci.rochester.ny.us/.

http://www.visitrochester.com/
According to this site: "We [the city of Rochester] are the third largest urban area in New York State, and, in 1990 we were one of ten communities in the nation to receive the All-American-City award as a great place to live." In the past 15 years corporate juggernauts like Kodak, Xerox, and Bausch and Lomb have diminished in the area. Their buildings still scrape our skyline and leave hope that they will learn to compete in a global market place. Kodak, the largest corporate entity in Rochester, has cut thousands of jobs here leaving a LOT of people unemployed. Still, I like the area. Its not so big that we have bumper to bumper traffic every morning, but it is big enough to bring commercial and cultural interests to town.

You can find out more about the history of Rochester here.

You can find some of my own pictures of Rochester here.

This is a test post from the Ecto blog client. It supports many blog formats, but doesn't look like it has much unique support for Live Journal.

"Our Not-So-Free Press." We've been critical of the press, but it seems those that are actually doing their job are being fined, jailed, or otherwise persecuted.

From the editorial: "Then there's Patrick Fitzgerald, the overzealous special prosecutor who is the Inspector Javert of our age. Mr. Fitzgerald hasn't made any progress in punishing the White House officials believed to have leaked the identity of the C.I.A. officer Valerie Plame to Robert Novak. But Mr. Fitzgerald seems determined to imprison two reporters who committed no crime, Judith Miller of The New York Times and Matthew Cooper of Time, because they won't blab about confidential sources."

Times article "Mudslinging Weasels Into Online History" reports on the difficulties Wickipedia had with keeping the Bush and Kerry pages neutral and accurate. This has always been a serious issue with Wiki-based sites in my opinion. They allow anyone to edit the pages. It relies on the honor system in a dishonorable world.

"A common defense against persistent "vandals" is to simply let them deface as many pages as they wish, knowing that they can easily be tracked and reverted after the vandal has left. This policy can quickly become impractical, however, in the face of systematic defacements born out of anger or frustration." - link
